María Monreal

Pamplona, 1996. He studied Journalism with a specialization in Performing Arts Production at the University of Navarra. His debut feature was the feature-length documentary “With open eyes,” made as a final degree project and premiered at the Navarra International Film Festival, where it received the Golden Melitón for best film (currently available on the Filmin platform). In 2019 he created Cambur Producciones, an independent production company focused on social cinema. That same year he made the leap to fiction with the short film “Cuesta”, which received more than 100 selections at festivals. Later he directed “Gaueko”, selected at festivals such as Abycine or Internationale Kurzfilmtage Winterthur. Among his latest works in distribution is the fiction short film “O”, premiered at the MAFIZ at the Malaga Festival, winner of the Best Screenplay award at the Cartagena International Film Festival and recently selected at the New Spanish Shorts Market Screening 2024 in Clermont Ferrand and in the official section of Ibizacinefest. Also the short film "When the grass grows", winner of the award for Best Film, Best Screenplay and Distribution Award at the Notodofilmfest 2022, which has already accumulated more than 80 selections in festivals and awards such as the EITB-Euskal Pantailak in Santurzine or best short film in fiction at the Oldenburg Festival. In the documentary field, he has directed a second piece, the medium-length film “Toda la vida”, awaiting release. Finally, in 2024 he will premiere the fiction short film "La Colada", which has just begun distribution.
