Maria Serralvo

Maria Serralvo (Barcelona, 1998) is a film director, producer and researcher. She graduated in Audiovisual Communication at the Autonomous University of Barcelona and completed her film studies at the University of California, Berkeley, where she directed her first short film, What We All Lack (premiered at the PIFF Los Angeles and awarded Best Experimental Film at Paris Film Art Festival). She was also the head of production of the documentary feature Alexina B. Lives in composition (Alexis Borràs, 2024), premiered at the 28th Festival de Málaga and selected at the Docs&Cat section of the 28th DocsBarcelona International Documentary Film Festival. She combines filmmaking with academic research: she has recently been awarded the La Caixa Foundation Fellowship for Postgraduate Studies Abroad and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in film studies at the Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne. Her films dialogue with her research to explore fabulation as a tool to reimagine gender, space, memory and identity in contemporary non-fiction cinema.
