Marta Martín bueno

Marta Martín Bueno was born in Hospitalet de Llobregat in 2001. She is a young Catalan director and screenwriter. She graduated in Cinematography from ESCAC (Higher School of Film and Audiovisuals of Catalonia) where she also recently completed the Higher Master's Degree in Directing.

As a filmmaker, she explores a cinema that arises from personal experiences, using memories as raw material. Although her stories are usually based on personal experiences, they always incorporate a magical element that transcends reality. Her works stand out for the creation of unique universes full of details, which provide her narratives with a solid and enriching background. Death and memory are the central themes of her still brief career, reflecting a deep reflection on these aspects in her works.

In fiction, Marta directs Arenillas, as her first short film. In it she takes us to Burgos through the eyes of Ana, a girl who lives experiences that wander between reality and fiction. The story explores Ana's confrontation with the recent loss of her father. This autobiographical story was filmed in Arenillas de Villadiego, the town of Marta's paternal grandmother, where she spent, like her father, the summers of her childhood. The short film premiered at the 69th SEMINCI and is currently in the distribution phase.

During her career, Marta participated in the development of Paola, a documentary that follows Paola's daily life and gives voice to sex workers who face the stigma associated with their profession. This project was awarded the DOC-U prize at DocsBarcelona 2022 and the public award at Mecal 2023. In addition, Paola was selected at Fipadoc and the Reteena Festival.

She is currently developing her next short film, El desencanto, produced by Escac Films and Persi Motion Pictures.
